Dear Residents of Oak Hill,
We would like to inform you that debris cleanup has officially begun in the City of Oak Hill as of today.
The City has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with Metro Department of Transportation (NDOT). They have engaged two contractors to assist with this important cleanup effort:
-
Crowder-Gulf is the contractor responsible for providing the equipment and performing the actual debris pickup along city roadways.
-
Tetra Tech is serving as the monitoring and documentation contractor. Their role is to log and monitor all debris pickups by street and address, including the amount of debris collected and transported to the approved disposal site.
-
These contractors will be here until the cleanup is finished.
This documentation is critical, as it is required for the City to apply to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for potential reimbursement of cleanup costs.
Please note the following important details regarding the cleanup process:
-
Debris will be collected only if it is placed along the street or roadway. Crews will not enter private property.
-
Cleanup operations will take place seven days a week, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (daylight to dark).
-
No construction waste and no household garbage is permitted
-
The contractor has been provided with a map of the City and will work systematically through Oak Hill.
-
Crowder-Gulf is currently operating with five knuckle boom trucks and five large hauling trailers.
-
This will be a slow and methodical process, and we appreciate your patience as crews work to complete the cleanup.
The City of Oak Hill has appropriated $1 million for this critical debris cleanup effort. These funds will be used to ensure the work is completed properly and safely. Through the required documentation process, the City will seek reimbursement from FEMA where eligible.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to restore our community. If you have questions, please contact us at cityadmin [at] oakhilltn.us (cityadmin[at]oakhilltn[dot]us).
Sincerely,
J. Steven Collie
