Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets at 5 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the City Office, 5548 Franklin Pike Suite 102.
However, at times a meeting may need to be re-scheduled or a special meeting may need to be called.  Please click here, to be directed to the city’s event calendar which has the most up to date meeting schedule available.  Agenda information will be posted below for all regular, re-scheduled, and special called meetings.

The Board of Zoning Appeals hears variance requests by homeowners and Conditional Use Permits by churches and schools. Variances are based upon hardships; i.e., slopes, trees, lot sizes, etc., not aesthetics, self-imposed hardships, or convenience.

Since the City of Oak Hill is strictly residential in nature, schools and churches only are allowed within City limits and operate on Conditional Use Permits granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals, with additional requirements needed for the Planning Commission.

Preliminary Submittals for the Next Meeting

The following items were submitted by the deadline for the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. These items will be reviewed, and be placed on the agenda if the review finds all required information is included in the submission. We encourage you to check the official agenda for a final list of cases to be heard at this meeting. Final agendas will be posted 5 – 7 days prior to the meeting date.  

  • 4500/4502 Franklin Pike (Warrix/Duff Property) - driveway setback variances, reducing lot frontage/access, residence outside setbacks, drives crossing property lines
  • 4035 Crestridge Drive (Debra Swagerty) - rear setback variance for proposed 3-car garage, patio, unattached fireplace, unattached deck with hottub
